Every box needs a caddis larvae pattern and this one's designed to get down. During the caddis life cycle they build little casing homes from gravel or sticks. They often leave the home or outgrow the casings before becoming an adult. During this time they'll get washed down stream where trout and grayling will Gorge on them.
This is the bug you want when caddis are prominent. I don't know why but this jig attracts cutthroat, It also fishes browns and bows but cutthroat seem to love it most.
PRO TIP: Flip some rocks when you're on the river, if you find lots of casings or see small green larvae tie on this fly "it can make a slow day a great day." Also if cutthroat are prominent I'd also throw this bug with a natural color nymph or drop it below a hopper.
